And also that would probably be the end of your insurance cover for the accident and if you haven't informed your insurance co. about the upgrade you are stuffed. Insurance companies will do anything not to pay out!. The bigger the claim the more indepth the investigation will be.

True - it will only be you.

The insurance will have to pay the 3rd party - but may then try and recoupe costs from you.
