United Kingdom 2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Bronze Green
Ambient temperature sensor
Just reading through the service schedule and it mentions "clean the ambient temperature sensor"

Anybody know where it hides out?

Hi Millerdark, If you mean item 8 in the 2.2 diagram you linked to, that’s an Air Charge Sensor, which is actually an air charge temperature sensor. However that does not measure Ambient temperature, I.e air temperature outside the vehicle. It measures the temperature of the air from the turbo via the intercooler.

I can’t believe LR would have also referred to it as an Ambient temperature sensor. But..... then again I’m never surprised by JRLs recent departure from good engineering terminology or implementation.

I do wonder at the level of despair the old school LR engineers feel at the direction LR have taken.
